Help Save Orang-utans & Elephants and more

Hi everyone, or some one, if any one is reading this.

I have just received an Email from Leif Cocks, Founder of “The Orangutan Project” ( or T.O.P.) to say that TOP are pleased to tell you that Orphan Updates are now available on some of the infants.

If you can, or if you know someone who can, sponsor a baby orang-utan ( or two ) OR maybe sponsor a baby Elephant or two ( or three – see the Action Alerts / Elephants tab of this Blog ), please consider doing so.

I have been making monthly donations of $10 to help the gorgeous orang-utan called Chocolate ( and monthly donations of $10 to help the magnificent and sweet young Asian Elephant, Bona who was saved from death by three wonderful Australians ).

If you are fit and able, you can even go to Sumatra and tour the orang-utan’s home.

Of course I love all the Orang-utans, and am proud of the Western Australian based organisation  , The Orang-utan Project,  for its efforts in raising awareness of the plight of these awesome creatures and for helping them as much as they do.

Please be aware that Palm-oil trees are being cleared and taking away the natural habitat of the Orang-utans.

Educate yourself and other on such matters via this Blog and other means.  If you can’t financially support organisations like   T.O.P.   and Save Bona, please consider signing relevant Petitions and / or otherwise taking action to help conserve these wonderful animals, and many other amazing animals too of course.

Bio

Confiscated from the home of an Indonesian palm oil plantation worker, he was weak, suffering from malnutrition and severely underweight. He had been snatched from his mother, witnessed her brutal torture, and was bought for AU$10.40 from the fisherman who stole him from his wild home.

Fisherman came across this opportunity to snatch this little baby from his mother and sell him to an employee working for PT Socfindo for a ‘quick buck’ highlighting the desperate situation Orangutans face in their fight from extinction.

Tripa where Gokong was confiscated is part of the world famous Leuser Ecosystem. This precious and unique biodiversity hotspot contains over 80% of the world’s remaining wild Sumatran Orangutans and is the last place on Earth where the Sumatran tiger, orangutan, rhino and elephant co-exist.   His once-thin body is starting to fill out and he has started to learn to climb! The Care Center team have worked tirelessly to achieve this outcome.

Please Help Me

Wild populations of the orangutan, found only in Aceh Province in southern Sumatra, Indonesia, have declined by 80 percent in the past 75 years. Only about 6,600 orangutans were left in Sumatra, according to the   “Rarest of the Rare”  2010 report.   It really breaks my heart to think that these amazing and wonderful animals could become extinct.
